Thank You for Joining us for the Covenant Community Bible Experience

In 2016, the Evangelical Covenant Church promoted Community Bible Experience, a Covenant-wide effort to be “People of the Book” together! Over 450 churches participated, over 40,000 Bibles were shipped, and countless lives were touched. We now are continuing the journey of Scripture immersion through Immerse: The Covenant Bible Experience. Please join us! Sponsored by Make and Deepen Disciples.

What is Community Bible Experience and how does it work?

Community Bible Experience is a different way to read the Bible: less like a reference book, more like a story.

CBE is a lot simpler than most Bible studies or church-wide campaigns. It consists of a few basic ingredients—a Bible unlike any other, a 40-day reading plan, and five discussion questions:

  1. What’s something you noticed for the first time?
  2. What questions did you have?
  3. Was there anything that bothered you?
  4. What did you learn about loving God?
  5. What did you learn about loving others?

What’s included and what does it cost?

Community Bible Experience has everything you need to read big: print and digital editions of The Books of the Bible for each participant, daily videos, resources for kids and families, and tools to help you plan and promote your campaign. See the general resources below and view the full listing on our resources page.

What are Covenant pastors saying?

testimonial-1

“If we believe the Word of God is the Living Word and is transformative then we believe it has the power to speak to us today and to transform lives: this is exactly what happened in the lives of our congregation at DeerGrove. People were ignited with the Scriptures and shared in story in a unique and amazing way. People still talk about it frequently and we are excited to enter into Community Bible Experience again, this time along with our whole Covenant Family.”

“The Community Bible Experience was a blessing for Oakdale Covenant Church. We have always had strong participation in our Bible Study experiences. But when we added the Community Bible Experience, it ignited our Wednesday Bible Study. CBE allowed for a fresh look at some familiar scriptures and the discussion questions certainly increased verbal participation. I would highly recommend CBE.”

“I am a fan of CBE because it provides a practical method for people to read the entire New Testament (or Old Testament) to engage the grand narrative of the Bible.  CBE also encourages biblical community as small groups and whole churches read and discuss the same sections of Scripture together.  We believe a Covenant-wide Community Bible Experience will take us back to the future as our immigrant revival movement flourished by reading the Bible together in community. The baseline questions of “Where is it written?” and “How goes your walk?” will re-emerge to make and deepen disciples throughout the entire ECC.”

Superintendent, Midsouth Conference

CELEBRATING GOD’S BLESSING AND WORK THROUGH CBE

At the Triennial XV women’s conference Kathy Buettner, A member of Naperville Covenant Church, shared about the impact that the Covenant Community Bible Experience had in her life.

We celebrate Covenant Community Bible Experience with testimonies from Mien Covenant (Sacramento, CA) and New Zion Covenant (Dolton, IL).

A fresh tool for outreach and evangelism

Community Bible Experience is also a great tool for evangelism and outreach! Special CBE resources including Outreach Tips and Invitation Cards will encourage participants to invite friends and family to be part of Community Bible Experience.

Participating churches have experienced a transformation — not just in Bible reading, but in overall vitality.

For example, Liquid Church in New Jersey saw their small group participation increase from 50 to 65 percent. More than 200 people gave their lives to Christ during their campaign, and over 3,000 people read the New Testament.
